HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR DESIGNER SHOES?

High-end luxury shoes are an investment and in order to have them looking good for a long time there are some tips to maintain and protect them.

Here are the 4 main tips to make your beautiful shoes last longer.

1.CLEAN YOUR SHOES AFTER EVERY WEAR

The first and definitely most important step when taking care of your designer shoes is extremely simple: keep them clean. But, depending on the type of material your shoes are made of, the cleaning method changes.

Soft and grained leather:  should be wiped with a dry, soft, clean cloth in order to remove dust. Apply a small quantity of neutral wax-based shoe cream and buff it with a soft cloth in order to revitalize the color.

Suede leather: in order to maintain the suede material effect, use a brush with soft bristles to clean the leather. When needed, use a neutral water-repellent spray to protect the leather from humidity and rain.

Satin: a delicate material that needs to be handled with care should be cleaned only with a dry, soft, and clean cloth in order to remove dust.

Crystals and studs: are delicate material that should be handled with care. They should be cleaned with a velvet soft cloth and avoid contact with materials or surfaces that could damage or scratch them.

2.MAINTAIN YOUR SHOE SHAPE

Unshapely and creased shoes are certainly not cute! In order to maintain the shape of your favorite shoes, it can be worth investing in shoe trees.

Your designer shoes will thank you even more if you go for cedar shoe trees to keep them smelling fresh, and in perfect shape, free from toe-curling creases. But the type of shoe trees you get matters a lot less than just buying them and using them.

3.STORE YOUR DESIGNER SHOES PROPERLY

Make sure your shoes are stored in a clean, dry place to prevent anything from spoiling them.

The best place for storage before placing your shoes in the shoe closet is to keep them in the box they came in. So if possible, avoid throwing away the box along with the dust bag and tissue paper.

When not wearing your shoes, stuff them with the tissue paper (or use a shoe tree we mentioned above), place them in their original shoe box, take the silica bag that helps absorb moisture and unpleasant odors, and pop it into the box. That’s it!

In case the number of shoes in your arsenal is high and the storage space is limited, you can also store your designer shoes in their dust bags. Most shoes on IN SHOES WE TRUST will come with them, if they don’t you can buy them separately. Look for cotton or felt dust bags as they are very breathable and will keep your shoes fresh all the time during storage.

Dust bags are also very convenient for traveling, they’re a simple and lightweight luggage accessory that gives you a safe place to put your shoes in so you don’t have to worry about the rest of your clothes getting dirty.

4.WE KNOW YOU LOVE YOUR PETS, BUT YOUR DESIGNER SHOES DON’T

And last but not least, keep your shoes away from your pets. Dogs and cats especially when they are young, have a terrible habit of chewing on anything including your shoes. Never leave your shoes on the floor or anywhere within your pet’s reach. We love our four-legged friends, but we also love our shoes.

Follow these simple rules and your shoes will stay looking great for longer.
